Last night was a night of “firsts.” It was my first time at a Miami University alumni event in New York City. It was also the first time I had ever been to the Rainbow Room, referred to as the “crown jewel” of Rockefeller Center, which offers spectacular views from the 64th and 65th floors of the GE Building at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. Lastly, it was the first time that I got to experience the “Top of the Rock,” which offers even more panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline and beyond.
Normally, you are supposed to pay $18.00 for admission to the observatory deck on the 70th floor at 30 Rock, but in the confusion of not knowing how to get to the Rainbow Room, I mistakenly jumped in line with a family of Norwegian tourists hoping that maybe I would end up at the private party in the Rainbow Room. Well, it turned out to be a glorious mistake because I got to experience the wonderful views of the upper and lower observation decks without having to pay the cost of admission. Whoops.
Next time I will visit this website to buy tickets online at the Top of the Rock website:
