What is Going on with the New York Knickerbockers?

The New York Knicks have only lost one game in their last fives match-ups! This is great news considering the Knicks lost a franchise record 59 games last season. For the Knicks to have a record of 19-25 this season is definitely a testament to new head coach, Mike D’Antoni, whose guidance seems to have transpired into winning at Madison Square Garden, where the Knicks have gone 7-1 in the month of January.

Back in mid-November, when the Knicks began the season with a surprising 6-3 record, Zach Randolph led the team in scoring before being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 20.5 points per game. When the Knicks also traded second leading scorer, Jamal Crawford to the Golden State Warriors for Al Harrington, everybody left the Knicks for dead. Creating salary cap room for superstar Lebron James in 2010 seemed to be the only reason for the trades.

Perhaps all the Knicks needed was the quick guard play of Nate Robinson, who was drafted by the Knicks back in 2005, and the three-point shooting ability of Harrington to spark them on. However, nobody in New York thought the early season trades were bright ideas, decisions that only the former general manager, Isaiah Thomas, could make. There definitely needs to be credit given to the present general manager of the Knicks, Donnie Walsh, for having the fortitude to make those trades, as well as D’Antoni for being able to coach Robinson and Harrington into his system of basketball.

Counterfeit Knicks Tickets

I learned another lesson in New York City the other day…Instead of dealing with cab drivers and trips outside of the five boroughs, this ordeal had to do with ticket scalpers buying and selling tickets to the New York Knicks basketball game at Madison Square Garden…As a first-time “on-the-street” ticket buyer, I was uninformed as to what an “authentic” Knicks ticket looked like. Although I didn’t purchase something quite as fake-looking as the tickets on the left, I did end up paying over $40.00 for a Knicks ticket that was in fact, counterfeit. Next time, I will know better and I will know how to spot a real Knicks ticket:

Cirque De Soleil: Wintuk

Saw this performance at the WaMu Theatre at Madison Square Garden for my birthday. Great show! Definitely worth seeing! Buy tickets online soon because the show is only in town until January 4th.
